Divorce

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.  And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?  And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.  And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.   But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.   For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;   And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.   What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

The debate on divorce has been on for centuries. God's intentions and purpose for marriage was for a lifetime. Couples will have different opinions on some issues but they will largely agree on their mission and vision thereby enjoying life together without separation or divorce.

However, there were some exceptions such that Moses permitted a certificate of divorce. Divorce will not come where there's God, marital bliss and oneness. Marriage can be hijacked by irreconcilable differences, violence, adultery and so on thereby aborting the mission and vision of both couples. The child or children often suffer the consequences of divorce much more.

Hardness of heart was and still is a major reason for divorce. If both couples submit themselves to God sincerely, they can overcome any challenge in marriage.

Some take advantage of others in marriage and God does not permit this. If your spouse hits you, don't wait till he or she kills you. Life presevation is vital in such circumstances.

Marriage is a model of our relationship with God. It is an institution established by God with simple instructions. Enjoy your marriage as God intended for us.
