The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Proverbs 10:27-30
The fear of God helps us to live as God intended thus prolonging our lives. We often think how long we live on the earth has nothing to do with how we live. Some say whatever will be will be but this is not how God wants us to live.
Initially, people lived very long lives with Methuselah living the longest however, disobedience to God caused God to reduce our lifespan to 120 and further more to between 70-80 years.
God promised that if we obey our parents, we will live long on the earth. This is the first commandment with a promise.
Moses charged the people before entering Canaan, Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33)
Say to yourself that you will live long to praise him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
I shall not die but live and declare the works of God.
