Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13 KJV
Jesus did not go to the religious teachers like the Pharisees or Sadducees or any other powerful member of the Sanhedrin. Jesus even declared woes on the Pharisees. These leaders started out well with noble intentions but along the way they allowed power over people to get in their way.
Jesus chose ordinary men like Peter and John who were fishermen and hardly respected among the people of their time.
When the religious leaders saw the boldness of Peter and John they were marvelled when they perceived they were unschooled. What separated these unlearned and ignorant men from the religious leaders was simply obedience.
God is ready to work with men and women who are ready to obey him and live according to his teachings even if they appear like ordinary people. The religious leaders realized that these men had been with Jesus.
You are not ordinary to God. Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young.
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 KJV
