Hebrews 13:2 KJV
Entertaining strangers appears to be one of the most difficult practices today in spite of the fact that the world is now a global village. Have you entertained strangers before and will you do it again? Fear of the unknown keeps anyone from welcoming people they don't know into their homes thereby making it difficult to entertain them. Angels can appear like strangers but if we do not welcome people generally it will be very difficult to welcome angels.
We have to love people regardless of race, tribe or culture if we are to entertain angels unaware. To love and welcome people, we have to love God and then we can see people from God's perspective instead of selecting who to welcome.
I know you cannot verify my story because you were not there but I will tell you all the same. At about 12 midnight, a woman and her children knocked on our door seeking a place to sleep for the night. This event happened a long time ago and I cannot say whether she was an angel or not but at that hour of the night, even if she was an angel it would have been better if she knocked any other door because I had never seen her face before. She even claimed to know someone in the neighbourhood but for one reason I cannot recollect, she just wants me to open the door and let them stay for just one night and they would leave in the morning. I was really scared as all the possible evil African movies sold to us ran through my mind. I asked her several questions and I called my cousins to seek their opinions because our parents were not home that day. I can't even remember their suggestions on the case. All I can remember is that we asked questions that she could not give any convincing answers to. What shall we do? I asked her to come in and sleep till morning and that she must leave first thing in the morning. This was a very difficult decision because of the time but somehow it did not make sense to leave her and her children helpless at that hour. On waking up in the morning, she left with her children and that was the last time I ever saw her. Thank God no evil happened to anybody.
Now do you think she was an angel?
