Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him
give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV
Giving of tithes and offerings in church has gathered a lot
of debate for a very long time. Let us not forget that giving is an act of
righteousness and we have been instructed on how to give. When we give we
should do so secretly so that our Father who sees what is done in secret will
reward us. If you announce your giving and people honour you, then honour is
your reward for giving.
Paul taught that everyone should give as he is able and as
he has purposed in his heart. The topic of money is very sensitive because
everyone does not have an equal share of it. When we give we should do so out
of love and with a cheerful heart for God loves a cheerful giver. Money is
important in ministry as with every other aspect of living. Give as you are
able and do not give grudgingly or out of necessity. Some will make you feel
guilty so that you give more than you are able but you have to be wise.
