Jeremiah 17:7 KJV
In the previous verses, God placed a curse on those who trust in man but prounounces a blessing on those who trust him and put their hope on him. People trust in man when their heart departs from the Lord. Trusting in man is futile because man will fail but God will not.
The heart of kings is in the hands of the Lord so don't be tempted to start worshipping other men for favours. This takes your heart away from God because you start to think that man can as well give you what you want. If you do this, men will control and manipulate you to their advantage.
Trusting in the Lord is doing everything God wants and is within your control. Only God can do the things that are out of your control. Trust him and let him be your hope and men will not laugh at you. God will reward you exceedingly beyond your imagination as revealed in verse 8.
