Matthew 13:54
Jesus taught his own people and they marvelled at his teachings and wondered how he could have such wisdom. It seemed nice that they admired him but they were too bothered about his background to accept his teachings.
They even became offended because they reasoned that he was a common man like them. They knew his family members and the family business was carpentry. So how could he have such wisdom?
If you're wondering why some people close to you can be so pessimistic about you or your ideas, just remember that “Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their own family.”
Jesus could not achieve much among his people because of their unbelief.
