I will go with thee

And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
Genesis 46:3-4

You know this story so the suspense at the time Jacob was to make this journey may not leave you on the edge of your seat. For Jacob, it was an ecstatic moment mixed with fear. Jacob was on his way to meet Joseph whom he thought was dead but he became afraid when he got to Beer-Sheba and was probably planning to stay there until God appeared to Jacob to assure him that He will go with him to Egypt and He will bring him back again. Jacob will finally meet his son alive. The joyful meeting of father and son after such a long period of absence.

Egypt was a place of refuge, Joseph and his wife, Mary sought refuge in Egypt. Joseph forgave his brothers and his father. You may have had a lot of bitterness in your heart for any of your family members, it is time to heal. Take that bold step towards forgiveness. It may not be very easy but it’s time to be free from the pains. It may be between father and son or mother and daughter or brother to brother or in any order. God will go with you on this journey.
