And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3:6
Everything was good between God and man until this disobedience. Sin is simply disobedience to God's command. Disobedience to God's word starts from the desires of the eyes. The woman saw and was pleased and then desired wisdom. She gave her husband and they both disobeyed God.
God has always given man a choice to obey Him or not. God does not coerce us into submission to His command. God wants us to obey Him out of love. The sinful mind cannot please God. We have to control our desires and not try to justify the reasons for disobedience to God.
Self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit so that we can live by the Spirit and not gratfy the desires of the flesh.
Choose to obey God and invite the Holy Spirit into your life.
Obey God in private and in public.
