Who influences you?

How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Matthew 16:11 The disciples had a lot of training with Jesus. They were always ready to learn new things and so often asked questions whenever they did not understand. They even try to decode the meaning of whatever Jesus said. Jesus said, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.” They thought it was because they didn’t take bread with them at the time. They eventually understood that Jesus was telling them to be cautious of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. You should be ready to learn and that is the hallmark of every great person. If you hold on to only what you know there will be too many conflicts. Disciples are made not born. You must be ready to renew your mind daily and heed correction as you progress in life’s journey. Jesus can perceive if we understand and he is always ready to teach us and to lead us in the way. He is the Way, the truth and life.
The leaven can work through the whole dough to make it ferment and rise. Leaven in this case is influence that works subtly and needs to be considered seriously because of the source. Beware of the influence in your life. Let your influence come from the word of God and people of faith. For you to experience a rise or supernatural increase, it requires the right instruction from the word of God. The Holy Spirit works in our hearts even though we do not know how and it produces fruit in us.
