Luke 14:28
Are you planning to build a house, buy a car, plan a vacation,
take or repay a loan, plan a wedding, run a business and so on. Then you need a
budget. A budget is a summary of intended expenditures along with proposals on
how to meet them.
Nations and corporate organizations have budgets. Do you have
a personal budget? For most people, their budgets are on their minds and not
written down. A glance at the bank account balance is not a budget. A written
budget is more effective than a budget in the mind. Budgets can be used for
virtually everything that involves spending money.
You might think that your income is not sufficient hence
there is no need for a budget. Every income needs a budget on how to spend the
income.
Jesus pointed out that it was common practice for the people
to sit down and count the cost to check whether there is enough money to
complete a tower or building. This process of counting the cost is called budgeting.
You don’t want to spend all your money without knowing if your expenditure will
exceed your income. Failure to budget often results to lots of anxiety, borrowing
and more anxiety.
Start budgeting today!
