House of merchandise

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
John 2:15-16 KJV

Jesus was not against buying and selling which is what happens in the market place. There's a  place to trade and a place to worship. The temple is a place of worship. The people tried to make it easier for worshippers to buy these animals for sacrifice at the Passover but the buying and selling took over as more animals where brought into the temple. It initially could have been seen as a good motive that it became a practice that was accepted by all who attended the Feast but it did not make it right. Jesus was angry because the people would not move out on their own and he had to send them out. The fact that many people accept and practice certain things does not make it right. You have to avoid the bandwagon effect.

Do not turn your office to a worship centre and your worship centre to a business centre. Have the right perspective and respect the purpose of each institution. Do not abuse the privilege you have been given. No employer will be happy to see the staff engage mainly in evangelism during business hours as the staff will be fired. Jesus fired those who were busy trading when they should be worshipping God.
