Leadership

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Hebrews 13:7 KJV

Leadership is a great skill that can be learnt and developed. Leadership is all about influence. There can be good leadership or bad leadership based on the simple definition given. There are different types of leadership styles used in various organizations and nations. We can look at a few spiritual leaders and their leadership styles.

Moses, Jeremiah, Job, Gideon and Samuel were influential leaders who were chosen by God not necessarily because of what they had done prior to being chosen to lead. Moses was no doubt one of the greatest leaders in the Bible. He was the most humble man in his generation. These leaders show us that we don’t have to wait to be perfect to lead but that we can learn to lead well as we progress on the job.

There were also brave leaders like Elijah, Daniel, Joshua, Caleb and Jonathan. They were leaders who were revolutionary in their approach to leadership. They did what the conservatives may have been afraid to do thereby blazing the trail. They persevered through trials and hardships because of their faith in God. Of course, you will easily remember Daniel in the lion’s den.

There were the anointed leaders like Abraham, David, Aaron, Isaac and King Solomon. They were prophets and priests and kings who dedicated their lives to serving God and God’s people.

Many different personalities and qualities were displayed by these leaders but their common goal was service. They served God and God’s people to the best of their abilities. We can learn a great deal from each of them.
